Rotor blade testing

Fatigue tests and quasi-static tests until fracture are conducted on rotor blades for windmills to ensure stability in normal operation as well as in extreme weather situations.

Static test

Software RotorblattpruefstandDuring a quasi-static test a blade is controlled deflected until fracture by up to 6 cylinders. Within the test software various parameters can be monitored and adapted online during the test. The horizontal connection with idler pulleys allows for strokes of up to 9 m.

Dynamic test

Fatigue tests in one or two planes are executed with hydrostatic-mounted cylinders. A specially developed energy-efficient control provides a cost-efficient solution with respect to conventional controls.

The article "DYNA-MESS stark im Aufwind" (German) reports on DYNA-MESS and a rotor blade test bench.

Connecting elements

Pruefung von Schrauben fuer WindenergieanlagenConnecting elements which are used in the wind energy sector impose high requirements on the testing technology.
Screws with a size of up to M 72 can be stressed with a load of up to 3500 kN and can be pulled until fracture.
With the testing software standardized tests according to EN 6892 can be conducted and characteristic values such as Young's modulus, tensile strength, elastic limits, ... are determined.

The testing machine for this purpose is carried out in a frame construction rather than in the conventional column construction. This concept provides stability, robustness and safety for the operators.

In the article "Hochfeste Schrauben dynamisch geprüft" (German) one of our customers reports on his daily use of a testing machine as described above.
