Vibration tests

DYNA-MESS machines can be used to test vibration absorbers. Static and dynamic tests can be performed to evaluate the tension/compression properties. With a lot of machines that cover a wide range of force, 1kN to 100kN, it is possible to find a solution for every kind of vibration test requirements.

The machines can be used for the following applications:

Static tests

  • Static deflectionKennwertmessung an Schwinggsdaempfer
  • Determination of the thickness of the vibrations absorber
  • Mechanical properties: stiffness, damping

Destructive static tests

  • The load is gradually increased until fracture or failure of the part occurs

Creep tests

  • Constant loading for a long term evaluation

Dynamic tests

  • Mechanical properties: stiffness, damping
  • Natural frequency
  • Change of the damping properties due to heating

Sweep tests

  • Relation between the dynamic damping constant and the amplitude of the excitation
  • Relation between the damping properties and the amplitude of the excitation
  • Relation between the attenuation of the frequency and the degree of insulation
  • Insulation grade
  • Calculation of insulation grade with a fixed excitation frequency

Service life tests

  • Dynamic Fatigue tests with a defined excitation frequency
  • Long-term investigation of the dynamic performances of a material
  • Evaluation of the effects of damages on the material

Schwingpruefung an MaschinenlagerWith the flexible DYNA-MESS test machines it is possible to do shock experiments or any other kind of tests that require special conditions.

DYNA-MESS machines are the solution for material characterization and are a perfect tool to provide information about materials and components. DYNA-MESS machines are also a good way to ensure the quality of your products for a long-term use and their stability in a rough industrial environment.

Torsion tests

Torsionspruefmaschine für elastische KupplungenServo-hydraulic and servo-pneumatic DYNA-MESS machines are used for static and dynamic torsion tests for universal joints and rubber components.

Torsion tests

Torsion tests can be performed on many kind of coupling assemblies or hydraulic jacks. In most cases, the exterior flange or the frame is fixed to the machine and the load (torque or torsion angle) is applied on the axis of the tested part.

Tests for universal joints

For a universal joint test, the part is fixed to the axis of a hydraulic actuator that is tilted to matches the housing. Here, the torque/angle values are recorded.

Static and dynamic tests

Kardanik Pruefung an FahrwerkslagerWith a static test it is possible to determine the following static properties:

  • Hysteresis curve
  • Stiffness at different operating points
  • ....

And the following dynamic properties:

  • Dynamic stiffness
  • Loss angle
  • Strength loss
  • ...

The following parameters can be adjusted by the operator while performing a dynamic test:

  • Amplitude
  • Frequency
  • Waveform
  • Oscillating point

The data will be recorded as moment/angle or force/angle values to calculate the dynamic properties.

Axial and multiaxial test benches

Verspannungspruefstand fuer elastische KupplungFor some specific test applications, it is necessary to apply load in more than one axis. DYNA-MESS can provide machines equipped with multiples actuators in order to generate any kind of loads. For example, an additional actuator can be added to generate a tension load on the axis of the part when the other actuator applies a torsion load.

Automatic evaluation

The DYNA-MESS software automatically calculates the parameters and presents them into a test report. For example, the stiffness at different torque or displacement values can be evaluated.

Individual and fatigue test

An oscillating torsion load can be used for a single test (evaluate the properties at a specific operating point), a sweep test (evaluate the properties as a function of the frequency and the load) or a fatigue test (evaluate the properties as a function of cycles and load).

Fatigue tests

DYNA-MESS test machines can be used for endurance tests on elastomer materials and components such as rubber/metal, hydraulic jacks, couplings and more.

The fatigue performances and the change of the dynamic properties are investigated while loading the part.

Cost-efficient testing with servo-pneumatic actuator

Pruefmaschine zur ElastomerpruefungIn many cases, DYNA-MESS dynamic testing machines used for fatigue tests are equipped with servo-pneumatic actuators. As the servo-pneumatic actuator does not need a complex installation as a servo-hydraulic one, the price of the testing machine is significantly reduced.

Fatigue performances

To determine the fatigue properties under dynamic loading, the test part is exposed to a force-displacement controlled load and, if necessary, a static preload can also be applied. The test can be performed with only one dynamic load or a sequence of loads can be programmed. For example, the load can oscillate around 100 N for the first 200 cycles and then increase to 500N. Different waveforms can also be chosen, such as a sine-wave and square-wave signal.

To evaluate the fatigue performances, a static compression load can be applied for a long period and the variation of the deformation of the part can be recorded.

Dynamic properties

With the DYNA-MESS software, it is possible to evaluate the dynamic properties of a part. The following are examples of the properties that can be measured:

  • Dynamic stiffness
  • Loss angle
  • Strength loss
  • ...

The corresponding values are automatically calculated and represented on a graphic. In addition, tolerances can be defined by the user in order to stop the test if one of the test parameters is not respected due to an abnormal behavior of the tested component. For example, if a part cannot be subjected to a deformation greater than 5mm, the user can enter this tolerance into the software and, if the deformation, after a certain time, is greater than 5mm, the test is stopped automatically.

Continuous data recording

By continuously recording data throughout the test, it is possible to have a statement not only about the type of damages or changes in the set parameters but also, the evolution of the damages or the variation of the parameters can be monitored during the test. All data are automatically recorded for further analysis.

High frequency tests

Dynamische Pruefmaschine fuer Sweepversuche an MotorlagernHigh frequency testing machines can be used for fatigue tests and for the determination of the dynamic behavior of a part over a wide range of frequencies.

Typical application of those machines is the determination of the dynamic stiffness and loss angle of rubber/metal components.

DYNA-MESS offers the following solutions for high frequency tests:

The main challenge while designing those machines is to not operate at the natural frequency of the frame of the machine. Considering this, DYNA-MESS selects every component of the machines as hydraulic cylinders, servo-valves, sensors and controllers with extreme care.

In case of the modernization of an existing machine, all hardware components that are in good condition (frame, sensors, hydraulic components) remain in place but the existing control system is always completely replaced.
Operation, tests parameters, online graphics and documentation of the test are all controlled by DYNA-MESS software CIMTronic 2000.

Material characterization

Kennwertermittlung an ElastomerprobenDYNA-MESS test machines are used to determined static and dynamic properties of elastomer and rubber components.

Static properties

  • Statics characteristics
  • Hysteresis
  • Stiffness at different operating points
  • ....

While a traction/compression test is performed, all data are continuously recorded. The characteristics of the tested material are automatically calculated by DYNA-MESS software and are presented in a report.

Tolerances can be defined by the user for different parameters as force and displacement. This allows to stop the test if some irregularities occur during the test or a certain value is reached.

Dynamics properties

The following parameters can be determined:

  • Dynamic stiffness
  • Loss angle
  • Strength loss
  • ...

For dynamic testing, the material is subjected to a dynamic load and the following test parameters can be set by the user:

  • Load amplitude
  • Load frequency
  • Waveform
  • Oscillating point

During a dynamic test, the displacement and the force values are recorded and used to calculate the properties of the material. Different calculation methods are available as the Hysteresis curve determination.
